The Asia Deaf Expo is a collaborative event organized by Deaf communities in Korea and Japan. It serves as an exchange‑centered expo where Deaf individuals directly participate in operating booths and programs, and where Deaf‑led businesses, organizations, and cultural content are introduced on an international stage.

The primary purpose of this expo is to highlight that Deaf people are not merely recipients of welfare or support, but active contributors across social, economic, and cultural fields—both domestically and globally.

Although Deaf‑related content spreads quickly today through social media, the reality is that Deaf‑owned businesses, Deaf‑run organizations, and the diverse skills and expertise within the Deaf community often remain under‑recognized. This expo aims to showcase these hidden strengths and present the vast potential of the Deaf community to the world.

In a time when unique aspects of Asian Deaf culture are gradually fading, the expo seeks to promote the message “Deaf Power, Deaf Pride.” By hosting the event every two years, it aims to establish a continuous platform for visibility and promotion. The next expo is planned to be held in Japan in 2028.

While Deaf expos have been held multiple times in Europe and the United States, Asia has not yet had such an international event. The Asia Deaf Expo fills this gap and marks the first step for the Asian Deaf community to share its culture and capabilities with the global society.

Through this expo, we aim to build sustainable cooperation and exchange between Korean and Japanese Deaf communities, and to share the potential of the Deaf community across national and linguistic boundaries. By introducing Deaf‑owned businesses, Deaf organizations, and the wide range of talents and expertise within the Deaf community, the expo seeks to lay the foundation for international collaboration and the expansion of global networks.
